McDonald’s® is the leading global foodservice retailer with more than 31,000 local restaurants serving more than 58 million people in 118 countries each day.

In New Zealand, the first McDonald’s restaurant opened in Porirua in 1976 and today there are more than 150 McDonald’s restaurants across the country, 80 percent of which are franchised and run by local business men and women. McDonald’s employs more than 9000 New Zealanders, and in 2009 spent $145 million with New Zealand suppliers, buying produce and products for its restaurants.
